Opening of the GTZ UDP PSU Office

On the 12th of June 2008, the UDP-gtz office witnessed its official opening. The event directly followed the signing of the sub agreement on the Component 3, and Component4 of the UDP (Strategic Support for the MLAE, and Support Structures for Local Government).
The event took place in the gtz-udp office in Al-Qussur area in Damascus, with a considerable number of attendances representing the government, the German and international agencies and others.
Mr. Hilmar von Lojewski, the UDP programme manager, started the event by an opening speech, in which he explained the programme in brief and the role of GTZ in Syria, and mentioned the efforts the UDP staff is putting in order to make the programme successful.
Followed by Mr. Lojewski speech, Mr. Nabil Al-Achraf the chairman of the UDP counterpart for the Component 3, and Component4 in his turn, displayed a speech in which he explained the endeavors of the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment in order to make the cities' planning process a sustainable one.
Later, the attendees enjoyed the melodies of a local Jazz music band while others cheered the German football team with its match verses Croatia.
