The Program for Sustainable Urban Development UDP ia joint  program of  the Ministry of Local Administration (MLA), Planning and International Cooperation Commission (PIC), the Municipality of Aleppo (MoA), the Governorate of Damascus (GoD), several other Syrian partner institutions and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, commissioned by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The UDP is now extending its activities of the second phase which have started on the 1st of November 2009, after a successful first phase which had started in August 2007.
In 2012 the program consists of two components working on the local level in Aleppo and Damascus “Continuation of  Components of the UDP”.

2. Integrated Urban Management in Aleppo

The activities of component 3 “National Urban Development Policy and City Networking” have been suspended due to the current situation in Syria. However, for the purpose of knowledge sharing, all information, publications and other material are still available.

In this website you can find information about the whole  program, get the latest news and learn about upcoming events. In addition, this website is a hub for sharing tools and reports on the development of the urban sector in Syria. All interested individuals, researchers and agencies are invited to contact the Program for exchange of information.
